New Federal Ban on Truck Driver Cell Phone Use

New Federal Ban on Truck Driver Cell Phone Use– blog submitted by ticketbust.com, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.

Currently under new 2012 law, interstate truck and bus drivers can no longer use a hand held cell phone while driving whether they are in a state that prohibits cell phone use while driving or not.

Under this new law a driver in a commercial motor vehicle may only use a cell phone for emergency use, to communicate with law enforcement or other emergency services or when the vehicle has been safely pulled off the highway or to the side of the highway and is in a stationary position.

This ban comes from the  Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and the law is effective nationwide.

Commercial drivers found in violation of this new rule could face a fine in excess of $2,000 and subsequent violations could lead to the loss of their commercial license. In addition, states may suspend a driver’s commercial license for receiving multiple cell phone tickets. –  blog submitted by ticketbust.com, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.
