Are Seatbelts Required in a Street Legal Golf Cart

Are Seatbelts Required in a Street Legal Golf Cart –  blog submitted by ticketbust.com, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.

Commonly referred to as a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV), Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV), or Golf Cart,  many people conduct their  banking, grocery shopping, and restaurant going in this types of vehicle.

The Vehicle Code defines “golf carts” as vehicles which are designed to be, and are operated at no more than 15 miles per hour, and are designed to carry golf equipment and not more than two persons, including the driver.

As indicated by the Vehicle Code, golf carts are only subject to certain provisions of the California Vehicle Code and are only subject to the laws which are applicable to a motorcycle (Cal. Veh. Code  24001.5).

A motorcycle is not subject to being cited under cited under the “mandatory seatbelt law” and thus a golf cart is not either. Therefore if you are driving, or riding as a passenger in a golf cart, while it may be a good idea to wear a seatbelt if the vehicle is so equipped, you are exempt from having to do so.  –  blog submitted by ticketbust.com, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.
