Will Drivers be Allowed to Text to 911 Once the Technology Reaches LA? – blog submitted by ticketbust.com, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.

Text-to-911 technology is already being used in several other states, and Los Angeles County may soon join other jurisdictions in providing this technology, reports dailynews.

So if you spot an emergency while driving, will you be able to text?

The way the law is currently written, you can make a phone call for an emergency purpose, even without a hands free or Bluetooth device. But, current texting laws do not include the same “emergency use” exception.

Unless texting-while-driving laws are re-written to accommodate “text to 911” technology, drivers would have to stick to calling, the old- fashioned way. – blog submitted by ticketbust.com, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.
