If you think a front plate kills the “cool factor” of your car, we hate to tell you, there’s no getting around this California law requirement.

Yep, you can get a fix-it-ticket for only have one plate. This will require you to:

  • get the plate from the DMV if you don’t already have it
  • put the plate on your car (even if it requires getting an install kit)
  • get police to sign off your ticket vouching for you
  • take the signed off ticket (along with your checkbook) to the court. The court will charge you a fee for the correction and send you on your way.
